After being shutout during the first round of the NFL Draft for the first time since 2014, the Miami Hurricanes can look forward to having one of their players being selected on day two of the NFL Draft.

Miami Hurricanes Head Coach Mark Richt did see three of his former players at Georgia taken in Thursday’s first round. Running back Sony Michel and offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn were selected by the New England Patriots with the 23rd and 31st picks. The Chicago Bears selected linebacker Roquan Smith eighth overall.

Miami running back Mark Walton and defensive linemen R.J. McIntosh and Chad Thomas could be the first Miami Hurricanes selected in 2018 on Friday night. All three are projected to be selected in the third or fourth round by most analysts.

The second and third rounds will commence at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Friday night. Several sites have published revised mock drafts projecting the second and third rounds after the first round selections on Thursday night.

The consensus is that only one of the Miami Hurricanes projected in the third or fourth round will be taken before the end of Friday night’s selections. The Sporting News’ Eric Galko doesn’t expect McIntosh. Thomas or Walton to be selected on Friday night.
