Early speculation for the NFL Draft had been Braxton Berrios to the New England Patriots. That became a reality when the Patriots selected Berrios with the 210th pick overall in the sixth round of the NFL Draft.

The speculation began when had Braxton Berrios had a breakout season last fall. It continued through the NFL combine and the anticipation of the NFL Draft.

After playing a secondary role during his first three years with the Miami Hurricanes Berrios became the team’s best receiver in 2017. He led Miami in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns last season.

Berrios exceeded his career totals during his first three seasons in college as a Senior. He had 55 receptions for 679 yards and nine touchdowns in 2017. Berrios is a perfect fit in New England. He will get a chance to replace Danny Amendola who ironically signed with the Dolphins in free agency.

In addition to losing Amendola, Bill Belichick traded Brandin Cooks to the Los Angeles Rams. That leaves open 126 receptions for 1,741 yards and nine touchdowns at wide receiver heading into next season. Former Dallas Cowboys executive Gil Brandt gave Berrios a shoutout after he was selected.

As with every other Miami Hurricanes draft pick this year, Berrios joins a former Hurricane on his new team. Berrios will be in the New England wide receiver room with his former Miami teammate Philip Dorsett.
