Rousseau was playing exclusively with the second team defense against the second team offense. Right tackle was such a concern with the first team that the Hurricanes had to shuffle around that side of the line.

Rising Junior George Brown began the Spring as the starting right tackle. He spent the first nine spring practices there. He was demoted after getting repeatedly beat.

Rising Sophomore Navaugn Donaldson came to Miami as a tackle. He earned All-American status at right guard last season. Due to Brown’s struggles, Donaldson is now projected to start at right tackle this fall. Rising Junior Hayden Mahoney was moved to the first team as the new right guard.

When talking about Donaldson Richt stated that his early arrival on campus played a large role in his success.

"“If Navaughn had shown up mid-summer not sure he would have played right away…Not only got a chance to show what he can do, also got into shape”"

Richt expanded on that thought by explaining how the players that arrive on campus in January and get to compete in Spring Practice are far more ready to compete as true Freshmen. He compared the present to ten and 20 years ago.
