Miami Hurricanes 8th in consensus 2018 post Spring CFB Rankings
The Sporting News released a post-Spring Consensus Top 25 from five of the major sites that cover college football nationally. The Miami Hurricanes were ranked eighth.
The Miami Hurricanes post-spring top 25 ranking was the second highest in the ACC. Only Clemson who was ranked second was higher. Two other ACC teams were also in the top 25. Virginia Tech was 15th and Florida State 22nd. Notre Dame who plays five ACC teams per year but is an independent in football came in at 14th.
The Miami Hurricanes seem to be on track to crack the top ten in a preseason poll for the first time since 2005. They were ninth to start that season. If the Canes remain eighth it would be their highest preseason ranking since beginning the 2004 season sixth in the rankings.
The other four major sites that made up the Sporting News Composite Poll are ESPN, Athlon, CBS Sports and USA Today. ESPN was the only poll that had Miami exactly eighth. Athlon has the Canes fifth and the other three sites ranked between eight and 10th.
When discussing Miami, the mothership mentioned Malik Rosier and the quarterback race, the potential for Lorenzo Lingard to have an impact on the running game the Hurricanes having to revamp the defensive line, the return of all three starting linebackers and the strength in the secondary.
