Brown spoke to Kaufman about the importance of Miami basketball Head Coach Jim Larranaga protecting him from reinjuring the foot.

"“When I was recruited to UM, Coach L [Jim Larrañaga], told me that after two years I could be good enough to go, and I am definitely ready to take the next step…It was really hard for me to sit out the end of this season, especially in the ACC Tournament and NCAA Tournament. I wanted to come back so bad, but Coach L wouldn’t let me. He didn’t want me to jeopardize my future, which shows what kind of man he is that he cared more about my future than his personal status.”"

Larranaga’s insistence on Brown protecting his career should help the Miami basketball program recruiting in the future. It shows that Larranaga’s primary focus is on his players first and winning second.

The combine will have 69 players participating. That’s nine more players than draft slots. It will give players who declared for the draft but did not sign with an agent a chance to show their skills and decide whether or not to return to college.

For those that don’t wish to return to college the combine is essentially the beginning of their NBA career. Brown is eager about playing in Chicago next week.
