The Miami Hurricanes pushed their winning streak to eight straight games with a 10 inning victory over Virginia Tech in Blacksburg on Sunday. The win improved UM’s record to 25-25 on the season.

Sunday’s game was back and forth with both teams rallying a few times. The Miami Hurricanes led 3-0 after a half inning. Virginia Tech rallied with a run in the second inning, three in the third and two in the fourth to take a 6-3 lead.

The teams went back and forth over the next several innings. Virginia Tech eventually scored in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game at eight. Miami’s four-run tenth was the difference in a 12-8 victory.

Miami had multiple hitting stars in the series finale. Danny Reyes and Raymond Gil both had multiple hits and RBIs. Romy Gonzalez had three hits, an RBI and three runs scored. Michael Amditis and Tyler Paige both had multiple RBIs. Tony Jenkins scored two runs.

Jeremy Cook was the only Miami pitcher out of five that did not allow a run. He pitched the tenth but did not get a save. Frankie Bartow pitched two innings in relief to get the win. Miami scored multiple runs off each of the four Virginia Tech pitchers.

The win clinched the sweep and gave Miami its longest winning streak since the Hurricanes had a 12 game streak in 2016.
