Malik Rosier led the Miami Hurricanes to ten wins, their first ACC Coastal Division title and the ACC Runner-up in 2018. He was freqquently maligned and blamed for Miami’s three games losing streak to conclude the 2017 season.

In many ways, Rosier had a record-setting 2017 season for the Miami Hurricanes. His 31 touchdowns (26 passing, five rushing) set a Miami record. He also became the first quarterback to lead Miami to a Coastal Division title and a berth in the ACC Championship game.

His downfalls were 14 interceptions and that he completed only 54 percent of his pass attempts. Rosier finished last in the ACC in interceptions and second to last in completion percentage.

In an article earlier this month, AthlonSports ranked the ACC’s quarterbacks. The Miami Hurricanes quarterbacks came in seventh, right in the middle. The ranking was the quarterbacks on a team’s roster as a whole, not solely who the starter is projected to be.

It’s debatable if that’s a fair spot for Miami. Rosier’s 26 touchdown passes finished third in the ACC and he was fifth in passing yards with 3,120. His ability to run also gives the Hurricanes an added dimension at quarterback. Rosier’s 3588 total yards were fourth in the conference

The quarterbacks immediately ahead of Miami are Duke and Florida State. The Blue Devils were ranked sixth and Florida State seventh. Athlon used a variety of factors to reach their rankings. Their criteria were:

"“Pure talent, supporting cast, having a clear hold on the No. 1 position, previous production, 2018 projection and scheme changes (just to name a few) – were considered and projected to rank the quarterbacks in the ACC for 2018.”"
