Miami baseball to face Clemson and Notre Dame in ACC Tournament

Clemson avoided the sweep with an 8-3 win in the final game of the series which was the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday. Sunday’s game was moved up because of bad weather.

The Hurricanes and Tigers had to go head to head in Saturday’s first game with Clemson’s Spring Football game that was nationally televised on ESPN.

Miami needs a run to at least the ACC Championship game and possibly to win the tournament to keep their hopes alive for the NCAA Tournament. The Hurricanes missed the tournament last season after 44 consecutive bids. That was an NCAA record for any sport.

Miami entered last season’s ACC Tournament with a similar scenario. They were 29-26 entering the tournament. This season they are 27-25 because of the two rainouts. They won their pool

The Hurricanes should be able to defeat Norte Dame in game one. The Hurricanes pitching staff should be able to neutralize Notre Dame’s hitting. The Fighting Irish have the second-worst ERA in the ACC. Miami’s bats have come alive during the ten game winning streak.

Clemson leads the ACC in home runs but was sixth in runs scored. Miami will have to hit like they did in the first two games against the Tigers to have a chance for the upset. Clemson isn’t all Seth Beer and their lineup. The Tigers finished second in the ACC in ERA this season.
