Miami basketball alum Lonnie Walker thrives in NBA Combine speed drills
The players are measured with and without their shoes. Walker measured 6’4.5″ with his shoes on. Brown was at 6’5 with shoes. Brown is also listed at 6’5 on the Miami roster. Both players finished in the middle of the standing reach. Brown scored an 8’2.5″ and Walker 8.3.5.”
The player hands are also measured in length and width. Both players came in somewhere in the middle to the bottom in both categories. After subpar seasons shooting the basketball, neither player took part in any of the shooting drills at the combine.
There were four scrimmages during the combine. Neither Brown nor Walker took part in any of those games either.
Now they wait. The NBA Draft will take place June 21 at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn. Walker was one of a select few players that were invited to observe the NBA Draft lottery in Chicago. He’s likely to be a part of the draft in New York next month as well.
With Brown on the cusp of going in the last third of the first round to the first third of the second, he is not likely to be in New York at the league’s invitation. It’s always possible he could choose to make the short trip from his hometown of Boston.

If both Brown and Walker are both first round picks that would be the first time that has happened in Miami basketball history. Walker is a lock to be Miami’s first first-round pick since Shane Larkin in 2013.
