Miami basketball rising Junior forward Dewan Huell has made the right decision and announced he will return for his Junior season. Huell had entered his name for the NBA Draft but did not sign with an agent.

In a Twitter post, Huell said he made the decision after getting feedback from NBA teams and discussing the decision with his family and coaches. Huell’s return is a big boost for the Miami basketball program that had already lost early entrants Freshman Lonnie Walker and Sophomore Bruce Brown to the NBA Draft.

Walker is expected to be a first-round pick. Walker’s stock seems to be rising after a good showing at the NBA combine. Brown is projected to be drafted anywhere from about 20th in the first round to being selected somewhere in the 40’s overall. That would put him in the second round.

Huell was not expected to be drafted. The 6’11 rising Junior from Miami Norland High School is being projected as an early second-round pick in the 2019 NBA Draft according to NBADraft.Net.

Huell returns to the Miami basketball team as the leader returnee in scoring and rebounding and tied for the lead in blocked shots.

Huell is likely to start up front with Rising Senior Anthony Lawrence Junior. The backcourt will likely have Chris Lykes, Rising Sophomore Transfer Miles Wilson and Graduate Transfer Zach Johnson from Florida Gulf Coast. Johnson and Huell were high school teammates.

Miami also added transfers Anthony Mack from Wyoming and Kameron McGusty from Oklahoma. Mack is appealing to get a waiver to play this season. He sat out last year as a Freshman with the Cowboys due to concussion symptoms. McGusty will have two seasons of eligibility remaining beginning in fall 2019.
