Fisher resigned shortly before the Seminoles took the field against Louisiana-Monroe. The game against the Warhawks was played the same day as ACC Championship game. Florida State has not played in the ACC Championship since 2014.

Aside from a massive 10-year $75 million contract, Fisher also left FSU because of what he called subpar facilities. He spoke about that during his introductory press conference with the Aggies.

"“You can have the greatest coaches in the world, but if your administration doesn’t see things the way you see things and allow you to do things that way, nothing can be achieved,”"

Fisher wasn’t the only one criticizing the facilities. New Seminoles hire Willie Taggart also spoke about the need for upgrades.

"“I think where we are now, it’s not efficient set up the way it is now,…That’s probably one of the biggest issues. It’s outdated, but not only outdated, but there’s now efficiency in how you can get things done. It’s the first time I’ve been around somewhere where it’s like that. It’s nobody’s fault, you’ve got to keep moving. Change is the only constant we all have.”"

Taggart’s hire at Florida State has Seminoles fans excited. His track record of success is questionable. He doesn’t have nearly the resume that Richt did when he was hired to lead the Miami football program.

Taggart has been a Head Coach at the FBS level for eight seasons. In stops at Western Kentucky, South Florida and Oregon he is 47-50. Taggart has two seasons with double-digit losses and just one with double-digit wins.

Taggart didn’t lead his team to a bowl game until his sixth season as a Head Coach. That was in 2015 when South Florida went to the Miami Beach Bowl, which has since moved to Frisco, Texas. He got his first bowl win over South Carolina a year later in the Birmingham Bowl.
