Quarterman, Richards, Johnson, and both Jacksons have been projected in the first round in various mock drafts. At this point, the most likely first-round picks from Miami if they leave after their Junior seasons are Richards and Joe Jackson.

Johnson is a multi-dimensional defensive back that is stout against the run and the pass. His leadership skills are excellent.

The rise of the Miami defense during the 2017 season was in large part due to Johnson’s play and leadership on the field. If he duplicates his 2017 season, Johnson will have a strong chance to be a first-round pick in 2019.

"31) Jaquan Johnson -Senior Safety “It was a bit of a surprise that Johnson returned to Miami after an All-American junior season. While he’s not the largest safety (5-11, 190), he is a team leader and complete player. Johnson will make tackles in space and also reads the quarterback to make plays on the ball in the air.”"

Reuter did not give a summary of the other five Hurricanes in the top 150. Athlon Sports did an article last month on the “Top 25 ACC 2019 NFL Draft Prospects to Watch.” Six Miami football players made their list. The only one omitted who is on the NFL.Com list is Homer. They summarized each player.

"74) Ahmmon Richards -Junior WR “Injuries hampered the Miami receiver in 2017, but he showed enough as a true freshman to put him high on NFL draft boards. A freshman All-American, he was a home-run threat with 934 yards on 49 catches. If he can remain in action and can click with whoever is playing quarterback for Miami, Richards could be a first-round pick in 2019.”"

The Hurricanes have one of the best linebacking cores in the country. Quarterman, Pinckney and Zach McCloud are getting ready to begin their third season playing together.

"120) Michael Pinckney – Junior LB “Pinckney was third on the Canes in tackles last season with 68 and teams with Shaq Quarterman and Zach McCloud to give Miami a dynamic linebacking group. He will turn 20 in late May so there is still room for growth both physically and mentally."

125) Travis Homer – Junior RB
Homer stepped up last season when star running back Mark Walton was lost for the season with an ankle injury. Despite not starting until the fifth game of the season, Homer nearly rushed for 1,000 yards and had over 1,100 yards of total offense.
