How would it affect the Miami football program? The ACC-Big Ten Challenge is scheduled with trying to get the best matchups in mind. That’s a bit questionable with the Hurricanes playing Rutgers in two of the past three scheduled matchups.

If it was in football Miami would have to be considered one of the top teams in the ACC at this point. All of the rankings for the upcoming season have Miami as the second best team in the ACC behind Clemson.

Sports Illustrated’s Top 25 Rankings for the 2018 season have Alabama and Clemson as the Top two teams in the country. Imagine the buzz that would create in an early season non-conference game. Miami is sixth and Georgia eighth as the next highest rated ACC and SEC teams in their early 2018 season previews.

A matchup between Georgia and Miami and Kirby Smart and Mark Richt would be fascinating. There would be a lot of talk about the showdown. Richt was fired by Georgia following the 2015 season. He was hired by Miami less than a week later.

If it was an ACC-Big Ten Challenge the top slotted game would be between Clemson and Ohio State. Many felt that the Buckeyes belonged in the College Football Playoff last season over Alabama who eventually won the National Championship.
