Ohio State would get a chance to prove they belonged in the 2017 College Football Playoff against Clemson. The Crimson Tide defeated the Tigers 24-6 in the National Semifinals in the Sugar Bowl last season.

As the team in the second slot, Miami would play the Big Ten’s second-best team who is Wisconsin. That would be a rematch of last season’s Orange Bowl Game.

The Hurricanes have a bitter taste in their mouth following a three-game losing streak to end the season. What better way to get a chance to avenge that than against the Badgers?

There are some interesting non-conference games in college football this season. A challenge sort of setup would create more buzz than just regularly scheduled non-conference games, especially in football with far fewer games.

It could give fans and the media a chance to see how the better conferences matchup against each other from top to bottom. Bragging rights for the ACC against the Big Ten or SEC would be important for many reasons. It could help in recruiting, marketing and potentially seeking donations.

The most important thing is it would be great for college football. The leadup to each game and television ratings would be startling.
