Miami football alums should benefit from Julian Edelman suspension

Patterson is a potential big-play performer who has been an all-purpose star during his five seasons in the NFL. He has averaged only 32.6 receptions per season during his career. Patterson finished right about there last season in Oakland with 31 receptions for 309 yards without a touchdown.

Reports are that Edelman could try and overturn the suspension. Shefter told Boston radio station WEEI that the suspension is highly unlikely to be overturned. San Francisco 49ers and former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is the most well-known known player to have a suspension overturned.

Berrios has long been pinged as the perfect fit for the Patriots. This was long before he was drafted by them in May. The primarily began during his breakout season last fall.

With his 5’9 183 pound frame, Berrios has been frequently been compared to Patriots icons Edelman and former slot receiver Danny Amendola. Amendola signed as a free agent with the Dolphins as a free agent this offseason.

The biggest downside for Edelman is that he will lose out on $470,000 in salary. The Patriots play the Texans, Jaguars, Lions, and Dolphins if he sits out the first four games of the season.

Those teams finished 24th, first, 27th and 16th in pass defense last season. The Texans 2017 defensive stats were greatly impacted by numerous injuries.
