Former Miami football player Kellen Winslow II was arrested and charged with seven sex crimes in Encinitas, California on Thursday. Winslow will be arraigned on Friday.

The former Miami tight end had already been in court on Thursday for an unrelated burglary charge in a mobile home park. Winslow played on the Miami football team from 2001-03. He was a member of the 2001 National Championship team and the 2002 team that had one taken away from them.

Winslow finished his Miami Hurricanes career second in receptions, third in yards and fifth in touchdowns among tight ends. He was the 2003 Mackey Award winner as the best tight end in college football. He was a 2016 Inductee Into the University of Miami Athletic Hall of Fame.

The son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow Sr. was already facing the burglary charge which is a first-degree felony. The other charges per multiple reports including this one from ESPN are:

"“Two counts of forcible rape, one count of forcible sodomy, one count of forcible oral copulation, two counts of kidnapping with the intent to commit rape, and indecent exposure.”"

Winslow was arrested at his home on Thursday. He posted $50,000 in bail. He gave the Sheriff’s department inconsistent and varied statements about why he was in the mobile home park according to ESPN.

Winslow has not played in the NFL since his one season with the New York Jets in 2013. He spent ten years in the NFL following his career on the Miami football team. Winslow finished ninth in the NFL in receptions in 2006. He made the 2007 Pro Bowl.

Winslow has been married to his wife Janelle since 2006. They have a seven-year-old son and four-year-old daughter.

The latest incidents over the past week are not the first time that Winslow has gotten in trouble with the law. Winslow was given a conditional discharge for possession of synthetic marijuana in New Jersey in 2014.

He had to avoid arrest for a year and meet with probation officers for a year to have the charge reduced to not guilty according to a report at the time.

According to a TMZ report, Winslow kidnapped and raped a 54-year-old woman in March and kidnapped and sodomized a 59-year-old woman in May.  A San Diego Union-Tribune report alleges that the Winslow arrest revolves around five separate incidents.

The latest update as of 2:15 PM ET from the Union-Tribune is that Winslow is jailed without bail. According to the Union-Tribune, the five incidents are:

  • Kidnap, rape and forced oral copulation of a 54-year-old woman in March;
  • Kidnap, rape and sodomy of a 59-year-old woman in May;
  • Indecent exposure in May;
  • Burglary with the intent to rape a 71-year-old woman in June;
  • Burglary with the intent to rape an 86-year-old woman also in June.

The $50,00 bail was in relation to the burglary according to the Union-Tribune update. Colorado-based attorney Harvey Weinberg who was his attorney in the marijuana case spoke to the Union-Tribune about the burglary arrest.

"“Emphatically denies committing any burglary…he would have no need to burglarize or steal anything from anyone at a trailer park, (Winslow) looks forward to being vindicated (in court)”"

The reports about the bail and the number of charges Winslow is facing have been contradictory. Both TMZ and the Union-Tribune reported that if Winslow is convicted on all of his charges he could face life in prison.
