Jeff Feagles was inducted into the Miami Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. Like Matt Patchan and Michael Irvin and Al Blades Jr’s uncles Brian and Bennie, Jeff played on Miami’s second National Championship team in 1987.

Like Irvin and Patchan, Pat Bethel begins his third season on the Miami football roster. He is projected to be a starter in 2018 at defensive tackle.

As a backup, last season, Bethel recorded 18 tackles, one tackle for loss and one sack. He gets an opportunity to make an impact this fall following the departures of Miami’s top three defensive tackles from 2017.

Bethel was a consensus four-star recruit at defensive end in the Class of 2016. He moved inside last season. Bethel will team with Gerald Willis at defensive tackle this fall.

Pat Bethel’s father Randy played tight end at Miami from 1987-90. He was also on the 1987 national championship team.

During his collegiate career, Randy had 44 receptions for 541 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was a 10th round draft pick of the New England Patriots in 1991.

All of these players continue a tradition of building the Miami football program like a family. For some families, that means literally.
