The average margin of victory for Miami at home in ACC games is 30.8 to 21.2. In conference games the nine-point margin is impressive. There is no reason to believe that anything will change in 2018.

When Miami is winning they are able to draw raucous crowds, especially for the big games. The renovation of Hard Rock Stadium has made it a facility for big events. Miami Hurricanes games are no exception. In a big event town with professional teams in all four major sports, that matters.

The only other ACC School located in the same city with teams in all four major professional sports is Boston College. Atlanta and the Research Triangle Area of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill are the only other metropolitan areas in the ACC with professional sports teams.

Atlanta has everything but an NHL team. The Triangle only has the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes.

As Richt continues to compete with the best schools in the country for recruits, there is no reason to believe that Hard Rock and Miami Hurricanes home games won’t become an event destination in South Florida. The Hurricanes won’t need a specific school to make it a big event.

It will likely become more dependent on any school being good and it being a big game because both the Hurricanes and their opponents make it as such. Last season’s wins over Virginia Tech and Notre Dame proved that.
