Miami Hurricanes offensive depth greatly improved in 2018

The losses of running back Mark Walton, wide receiver Ahmmon Richards and tight end Chris Herndon IV significantly hampered the Miami Hurricanes offense at the end of the 2017 season. Miami should be able to withstand injuries with more depth in 2018.

The Miami Hurricanes offense dipped at the end of the 2017 season with Walton, Richards and Herndon all lost for the season with injuries. Malik Rosier felt the impact the most. Without his two best receivers Rosier struggled tremendously in the three-game losing streak to end 2017.

In losses to Pittsburgh, Clemson and Wisconsin to end 2017, Rosier completed 44.9 percent of his passes for 500 yards three touchdowns and five interceptions. While much of the public wanted to blame Rosier, Miami Head Coach Mark Richt said the only truly bad game Rosier had was against the Panthers.

Rosier was also playing behind an offensive line that struggled at times last season. The Miami Hurricanes defensive line dominated the big uglies on offense this spring as well. Richt repeatedly said throughout the Spring that upgrading the talent on the offensive line is unit that has the greatest need.

Miami has added an infusion of talent on the offensive line in the last two recruiting classes. Navaughn Donaldson was a Freshman All-American at right guard last season.He is moving to right tackle this year and could play left tackle in 2019.

In their 2018 ACC season preview, Athlon Sports has the Offensive Line as the only Miami Hurricanes unit on offense or defense not ranked in the top five in the conference.
