After barely losing to Florida State in 2016, the Miami football team ended a seven-game losing streak to the Seminoles last season. The 2017 win was in Tallahassee. This season the Hurricanes get FSU at Hard Rock Stadium.

The Miami Football team carries a nine-game home winning streak into the 2018 season. The loss to Wisconsin in the Orange Bowl counted as a neutral site game.

Under Mark Richt, Miami is 11-2 at home in two seasons. There are many reasons to believe that Miami could be on the verge of dominating the rivalry with Florida State once again.

The Hurricanes enter 2018 with one of the most proven coaches in college football. Richt enters 2018 fourth among active coaches with 164 career victories. He is also fourth overall with a .739 career winning percentage. Richt is 49th all-time in wins and 41st in winning percentage.

Florida State lost Head Coach Jimbo Fisher to Texas A&M after last season. Fisher had an 83-23 career record in eight years at Florida State. Coaches must have ten years to qualify to be ranked in winning percentage. FIsher’s current winning percentage of .783 is better than Alabama’s Nick Saban. It would place him 19th all-time.

The Seminoles were a disaster in their final season under Fisher. After initially canceling their game against Louisiana-Monroe, the Seminoles had to wind up playing the game to become bowl eligible. They finished 7-6 after a 2-5 start.

Florida State’s losses included a 35-3 pounding at Boston College. Only three of their wins last season were against teams with winning records.
