Willie Taggart was hired after one season at Oregon to replace Fisher. Taggart has a 47-50 record in nine seasons as a Head Coach. That’s a .485 winning percentage. Oregon lost their three games against ranked teams under Taggart last season by a combined total of 102-27.

Taggart will be eligible to be ranked in winning percentage after the 2019 season. Even if Florida State was undefeated and won the National Championship this season, Taggart still would not among the top 250 coaches in winning percentage in the history of college football.

  • Taggart was 7-5 in his one season at Oregon. Former Miami offensive lineman Mario Cristobal coached the Ducks in their Las Vegas Bowl loss to Boise State.

Prior to Oregon, Taggart had a 24-25 record in four years at South Florida and 16-20 record in three years at Western Kentucky. In eight previous seasons as a college Head Coach, Taggart’s teams have been to four Bowl games.

Fisher’s teams went to Bowl Games in all eight seasons with Florida State. Richt’s teams have not missed a Bowl game in 17 years as a Head Coach.

After being outgained 175-67 in the first half of last year’s game against the Seminoles, Miami outgained FSU 280-210 in the second half.

The Hurricanes racked up 150 yards on the last two drives when Florida State’s defense collapsed in the clutch.
