According to ESPN College Football expert Brett McMurphy, the Miami football team and Florida State both have 30-1 odds to win the 2018 National Championship. Keep in mind when odds are set to get the public to place wagers, not a prediction on who will win.

The Miami football team as expected and Florida State have the second longest odds in the ACC. Clemson has the second longest odds in the country to win a National Championship. Defending National Champion Alabama is 9-5. The Tigers and Ohio State are next at 5-1. Six teams are ahead of Miami. FSU, Notre Dame and Texas.

Georgia who was the National Runner-up in 2017 is the fourth choice at 6-1. Michigan is the fifth choice at 12-1. Washington is sixth at 15-1, Auburn and Wisconsin are tied for seventh at 20-1 and Oklahoma and Penn State are tied for ninth at 25-1.

It’s understandable for Miami football fans to be upset with several of the teams on the list that are up there with the Hurricanes. Remember again that the odds are more indicative of trying to get fans and gamblers to make wagers than what teams the bookies in Las Vegas and elsewhere think has the best chance of winning the National Championship.

No one outside of Tallahassee or South Bend likely believes that Florida State or Notre Dame has a better chance of winning a National Title this season than the Hurricanes. The same likely goes for Michigan. Miami is ranked ahead of all three teams in the consensus top 25’s entering 2018.

The Fighting Irish often have a delusional, overly loyal fan base. Florida State has been a brand name for better part of three decades. That should outweigh the Seminoles 7-6 2018 season.
