History of Miami baseball alums under Jim Morris in MLB All-Star Game
Despite winning the Rookie of the Year award in 2007, Braun didn’t become an All-Star until his second season. Braun won the first-year player award by hitting .324 with 34 home runs and 97 RBIs. His .634 slugging percentage led the National League.
Braun made his first all-star team by hitting .286 with 23 home runs and 66 RBIs in the first half in 2008. The Brewers former third baseman and left fielder has been selected to the All-Star game six times and played in the mid-summer classic five times.
In 11 all-star game at-bats, Braun has three hits. That includes two triples and a double. His only RBI came in the 2012 game. Braun went 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI in the 2012 All-star game.
The five-time all-star starter scored the first run of the game in 2012 when a triple by San Francisco Giants third baseman Pedro Sandoval drove him in. Braun later was stranded at third after his own triple. Braun also scored a run in the 2015 game after a triple.
One more Braun triple in an All-Star game would tie the career record. That is currently held by former Baltimore Orioles third baseman Brooks Robinson and Braves outfielder Hank Aaron.
