Three Miami football players named top 50 in 21st Century
Dorsey was 22 of 35 for 362 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in the Rose Bowl win. A season later when Miami had the Fiesta Bowl taken from them against Ohio State Dorsey was 28 of 43 for 296 yards two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Dorsey didn’t put up the big numbers of some of his peers or the pass-happy quarterbacks of today. He might be the most clutch quarterback in the history of College Football. Dorsey had an 86 to 28 touchdown to interception rate and a 38-2 record as a starting quarterback during his career.

There are plenty of other players from the Miami football program in the last 18 years that could easily have been named to this list. Shaq Quarterman has been exceptional at linebacker in his first two seasons with the Hurricanes.
Andre Johnson shared the Rose Bowl MVP with Dorsey in 2002. Willie McGahee succeeded Portis as the Hurricanes starting tailback in 2002. He and Dorsey shared the Big East’s Offensive Player of the Year.
McGahee ran for 1,753 yards and 28 touchdowns. He caught 27 passes for another 355 yards that season. He easily could have been named top 50 of the century.
Any number of Miami defensive players could have been named to the list. The list chose two former Miami standout safeties and somewhat of a surprise on offense among the top 50.
For a school that was known as quarterback U in the 1980s and early 1990s and again with Dorsey, linebacker and safety might be the best positions in school history.
