The third annual Paradise Camp run by the Miami Football program is taking place this weekend. On the precipice of his third season leading Miami, Mark Richt welcomes back alums to mix with current players and potential recruits at the Paradise Camp.

Several current Miami football players attended the Paradise Camp over the last two seasons. The camp serves a few purposes. It gets potential recruits on campus and gives them face to face meetings with the Hurricanes Coaching Staff. It also allows current players and the alums to mingle with each other and the recruits.

The Paradise Camp was started by Miami Head Coach Mark Richt when he was hired to run the Miami football program in December 2005. Paradise is one of Richt’s catchphrases for being at Miami. He uses the phrase every chance he gets.

Richt wants everyone to know that living in Miami is akin to living in paradise. No other ACC school can say that.

Paradise camp will begin with a pool party on Friday. On Saturday they will have a two-hour workout under the lights. With the Carol Soffer Indoor Practice facility nearing completion, the players will also likely get a chance to tour that.

Mark Richt released the former players that will be at the Paradise camp this weekend via Twitter on Friday afternoon.

The Miami football alums that are expected to attend this weekend are linebackers Jonathan Vilma and Jon Beason, safety Bennie Blades, defensive tackle Warren Sapp, running back Clinton Portis, wide receiver Lamar Thomas and offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie.
