Heading into his Senior season Miami Hurricanes quarterback Malik Rosier has gotten his share of criticism from Miami football fans and rivals. In a recently released ranking of the best quarterbacks in the ACC Rosier was ranked fourth.

WIth how the rankings played out Rosier was selected as the top quarterback in the ACC Coastal Divison. Rosier has gotten a huge share of the criticism of the Miami Hurricanes entering 2018. The rankings were compiled by the ACC Digital Network. That’s the official network of the ACC.

The only quarterbacks ahead of Rosier were Clemson’s Kelly Bryant who was third, Syracuse’s Eric Dungey who was second and North Carolina State’s Ryan Finley who topped the list.

The criticism of Rosier centered largely around his play during the final three games of the 2017 season. A lot of the blame goes on Rosier. That is particularly true in the loss to Pittsburgh. The other two losses to end 2017 were more about the entire team’s performance in the losses to Clemson and Wisconsin.

Rivals often point out the adversity that their team faced. In particular, Florida State fans claiming that they had to play the majority of 2017 with a true Freshman quarterback. What is often left out for the Miami Hurricanes is that Rosier was without his three best players offensively for a large part of the 2017 season.

Running back Mark Walton was lost for the year after reinjuring an ankle that required surgery following the victory over Florida State. Wide receiver Ahmmon Richards was in and out of the Miami lineup with a hamstring injury to begin the season and a torn MCL to end it.

Tight end Chris Herndon IV also missed the final two games of 2017 with a torn MCL. Herndon’s injury came against Pittsburgh. Richards tore his MCL during the week of practice preparing for Clemson in the ACC Championship game.

Rosier definitely needs to improve on his accuracy for 2018. As a dual-threat quarterback, he is one of the ACC’s best entering 2018.
