National Experts proclaim 2001 Miami football best of last 21 years
The fact is Boston College finished the season 8-4 and ranked 21st in the final polls. Their losses were to Syracuse, Miami, Virginia Tech and at Stanford who finished the season 9-3 and ranked16th in the country. Boston College defeated Georgia and their first-year Head Coach Mark Richt in the Music City Bowl.
Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports who previously has written for ESPN and CBS Sports was another one of the national college football experts to weigh in on those that claim anyone other than the 2001 Hurricanes should be proclaimed as the best team ever. Feldman’s discussed the 2001 Canes on his podcast.

The first paragraph in a 2014 article on ESPN by Edward Aschoff after Florida State won their third National Championship perfectly summed up the debate on who is the best, especially in Florida.
"“With all due respect to Famous Jameis and his fantastic Florida State team of 2013, the best team to come out of the Sunshine State during the BCS era was years ahead of the Seminoles’ time.”"
Aschoff gave numerous illustrations of why Miami was the best team ever. One of Aschoff points is almost incomprehensible in an era where former NFL Commissioner Pete Roselle’s line of any given Sunday can be applied a day earlier in the week.
"“The complete BCS package came in the form of the 2001 Miami Hurricanes, who trailed only twice all season.”"
Compare that to Clemson who has won the last the last three ACC Championships and appeared in the College Football Playoff each of the last three seasons. The Tigers lost to a 5-7 Pittsburgh team at home in 2016 and followed that up with a loss at 4-8 Syracuse last season.
