The last sentence in the previous quote once again is accurate. Diaz’s style is what Miami fans have been appealing for the Hurricanes defense to do since they were using a more read and react defense under Al Golden and his Defensive Coordinator Mark D’Onofrio.

The aggressive defense that Diaz’s teams have always played led to forcing turnovers. Richt and Diaz both placed an emphasis with the defense last season on doing more to making that happen.

Getting to the quarterback more often leads to more interceptions and learning how to strip the ball from a ball carrier both help create more turnovers. The incentive of the turnover chain doesn’t create turnovers, but it helped create the mindset that led to that happening.
