After an ACC Coastal Division title in 2017, the Miami Football team is favored to repeat and rematch with Clemson in the ACC Championship game. Miami is mentioned prominently throughout ESPN’s “A rundown of all you need to know about the ACC before Week 1”
The mothership has two Miami football games mentioned among their “Five most important (ACC) conference games” for 2018. The Hurricanes October 6 visit from Florida State and their trip to Blacksburg Virginia to play Virginia Tech on November 17 are listed as two of the five most important games.
All of the five games on the list involve Clemson, Florida State, Miami or Virginia Tech. Florida State could have a role this season. It’s tough to see them overtaking Clemson in the ACC Atlantic even with their October 27 meeting in Tallahassee.
If we are going to single out one game for the Hurricanes being the most important it’s the one against Virginia Tech. The Florida State game brings out the emotions from the fans and the players on both sides are familiar with each other. The game against the Hokies has a much more significant impact on the Miami football season.
The winner between Miami and Virginia Tech has won the Coastal in each of the last two seasons. The victor has been at home each time.
Getting a win against Florida State at Hard Rock Stadium can help set the tone for the Miami football team to have another great season. Last’s year’s victory over the Seminoles ended a seven-game losing streak to FSU. This year the Miami football team will attempt to get their first home win over Florida State since 2004.
