While Sunday’s game between Miami and LSU is the first between the schools in 13 years, the Head Coaches have met twice before. LSU Head Coach Ed Orgeron was the Head Coach at Mississippi from 2005-07.

The Rebels lost to the Mark Richt led Georgia Bulldogs in the Orgeron’s last two seasons in Oxford. Georgia won 14-9 in Oxford in 2006 and 45-17 in Athens in 2007. Richt’s 2007 Georgia team finished the season ranked second in the final poll.

Miami enters the game against LSU with only three somewhat substantial injuries. Tight end Michael Irvin II and offensive lineman George Brown are out after tearing their MCLs during training camp. Linebacker DeAndre Wilder was questionable according to Richt earlier this week.

In spite of the listings, no information has been sent out that any of the other Hurricanes players are expected to be out for Sunday’s game. Jarren Williams won’t get into the game barring injuries to Rosier and backups Cade Weldon and N’Kosi Perry.

Joe Jackson has been wearing a sleeve on his elbow for the last few weeks. He will play. It has not been mentioned if Jackson will play with the sleeve or not. McCloud, Bandy, Richards and Njoku will all be ready to play. It seems like an uphill battle for Njoku to be a part of the rotation at wide receiver.

Michael Irvin II Out Knee Irvin II had offseason surgery to repair a right MCL injury and is expected to be sidelined until the beginning of December.
George Brown Jr. Out Knee Brown Jr. is sidelined with a torn MCL and there is no timetable for return.
Evidence Njoku Questionable Knee Njoku is dealing with a knee injury and it is unknown if he will be available against LSU on Sunday.
De’Andre Wilder Questionable Neck Wilder is battling an ankle injury and it is unclear if he will play against LSU on Sunday.
Jarren Williams Questionable Undisclosed Williams is nursing an unspecified injury, leaving his status for Sunday against LSU up in the air.
Zach McCloud Probable Wrist McCloud has a wrist injury but is likely to suit up Sunday against LSU.
Trajan Bandy Probable Undisclosed Bandy is dealing with an unspecified injury but is expected to play Sunday against LSU.
Ahmmon Richards Probable Knee Richards is recovering from a knee injury but is expected to play against LSU in the season opener.
Joe Jackson Probable Elbow Jackson is likely to be available for the season opener against LSU despite an elbow injury.
