Majority of Miami Basketball ACC Games will be nationally televised

The Miami basketball program learned on Thursday that ten of their 18 ACC games this season will be nationally televised. The Hurricanes begin ACC play on January 3 against North Carolina State at the Watsco Center.

The Miami basketball team’s conference opener against the Wolfpack is on a Thursday night and will be nationally televised on ESPN or ESPNU. That is the second game on the entire ACC Conference basketball schedule for the 2019 season. Notre Dame and Virginia Tech tipoff ACC play two days earlier to begin the New Year.

The Hurricanes and Wolfpack is the only scheduled ACC game on the night they play. The tipoff is scheduled for 7 PM ET. Miami will have the attention of the entire ACC for their first road game in the conference season when they play at Louisville on Sunday, January 6. That has a 6 PM ET Tipoff on ESPNU.

Miami has home and homes with Florida State, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. Those are six of the 11 ACC games that the Hurricanes will play against 2018 NCAA Tournament teams.

  • Virginia, Duke, Clemson, Syracuse and NC State are the other five ACC NCAA Tournament teams from 2018 that Miami will play this season. Miami will play five of their eight ACC games in January at home.

    After playing at Louisville the Hurricanes travel to Florida State January 9. They then return home to begin a stretch of four out of five at the Watsco Center.

    Miami hosts Wake Forest January 12 and North Carolina January 19. The game against the Tar Heels will be televised on ESPN or ESPN2 with a noon tipoff. The Hurricanes travel to Syracuse on January 24 before returning home to host Florida State on the 27th and Virginia Tech on the 30th to close out the month.

    Miami begins February with a Groundhog night game at defending ACC regular season and tournament champion Virginia. The Hurricanes seven February games alternate between home and road. They also play road games at North Carolina, Boston College and Wake Forest on the ninth, 17th and 26th.

    The game at Boston College is the only one of those games being televised nationally. It will be a 6 PM tipoff on ESPNU. Miami’s February home games are against Notre Dame on the sixth, Clemson on the 13th and Georgia Tech the 23rd. The Notre Dame and Clemson games will be on ESPN2 or ESPNU with 7 PM ET Tipoffs.

    The Miami basketball team’s first game against North Carolina begins a streak of five straight games and seven of eight against NCAA Tournament teams. The stretch concludes with Clemson.

    The Hurricanes finish the regular season with games at Duke March 2 and Virginia Tech March 8 with a game against Pittsburgh at the Watsco Center on March 5. The game against the Devils will be on CBS at 4 PM ET. The regular season finale in Blacksburg is at 7 PM on ESPN2.

    The game against the Hokies is a night earlier than all but Georgia Tech will be finishing up their regular season schedule. That should give a young Hurricanes roster an extra day to get ready for the ACC Tournament.
