Miami Hurricanes quarterback Malik Rosier has high expectations for his offense. He set the standard at 35 to 40 points per game after the Hurricanes put up 49 on Toledo on Saturday.

A week before Toledo the Miami Hurricanes offense put up a program record-tying 77 points against Savannah State. The 126 points combined in the last two weeks also set a program record. This came after Malik Rosier was blamed by the majority of the fanbase for the season-opening loss to LSU.

Rosier has been exceptional the last two weeks after a rough start against LSU. Rosier completed 21 of 35 attempts for 336 yards and four touchdowns in the victories over Savannah State and Toledo. He also had nine carries for 81 yards and another four touchdowns in the two victories.

Rosier’s five rushing touchdowns match his 2017 total. That ranks ninth in the country through the first three weeks.

Behind Malik Rosier’s direction, Miami is currently 14th nationally in scoring. The Hurricanes are averaging 47.7 points per game through the first three weeks. Rosier is confident in the talent he has around him. The Redshirt Senior has high expectations for the Miami offense for the remainder of the season.

"“This should be the standard…It shouldn’t be, like, we’re playing Toledo, we’re supposed to beat them. We should go out there and every game put up 35 to 40-plus points. That’s the standard I’m going to set and I’m not going to let it down.”"

The Hurricanes were able to put up 49 points on a Toledo defense that allowed three in the season-opening win two weeks prior. The Rockets allowed 26.2 points per game in 2017. That number goes down to 24.2 if you take out the 52 the Hurricanes scored on Toledo in their win over the Rockets.

Rosier led an incredibly efficient offense for the Miami Hurricanes against Toledo. The U allowed no sacks and did not commit a penalty or a turnover.

That kind of performance will increase the chances of putting points on the board for any offense at any level of football. Head Coach Mark Richt commented on the job Rosier and the offense did on Saturday.

"“I thought Malik did a really good job and [center Tyler Gauthier] together to get us in the right blocking schemes and a lot of our run game…No sacks was big. We had a couple pressures, one pressure we ended up completing the ball, the other we weren’t able to get it out there far enough to hit [Brian] Hightower on a deep ball."

The Hurricanes offense had incredible balance against Toledo. Miami ran for 268 yards and threw for 205. That was the second straight game that the Hurricanes eclipsed the 200-yard mark on the ground. The Hurricanes are 54th nationally averaging 196.67 rushing yards per game.

Next up for Miami and an FIU defense that is 83rd in the country allowing 27.3 points per game. The Hurricanes and Panthers are playing for the third time, but the first since 2007. Miami scored 58 points and gave up nine in the two victories over FIU in 2006 and ’07.
