The Miami Hurricanes take on North Carolina in their ACC Opener on Thursday night. Miami enters the game 3-1 and the Tar Heels are 1-2.

North Carolina has played one less game because they had their third game of the season against Central Florida canceled due to Hurricane Florence. The Tar Heels won their ACC Opener a week ago 38-35 against Pittsburgh in Chapel Hill. The Miami Hurricanes defeated FIU 31-17 in their last non-conference game of 2018.

Miami won last year’s meeting 24-19 in a very sloppy game. Malik Rosier was just 16 of 38 but made the most of his completions. He finished with 356 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

After going scoreless for most the of first half Rosier connected with tight end Chris Herndon IV for 51 yards and a touchdown with less than two minutes to go in the first half to go in front 7-6.

Rosier then threw a 78-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Thomas less than a minute into the second half to extend the lead. The Miami Hurricanes would have to hold on late to secure the five-point victory.

Tonight’s game is the second of three Miami games this season that will not be played on Saturday. The Hurricanes lost the season opener the night before Labor Day to LSU and travel to Boston College on Friday, October 26. That could turn out to be Miami’s toughest ACC game of 2018.

Thursday night is the 22nd meeting between Miami and North Carolina. The Tar Heels have an 11-10 edge. Miami leads 7-6 in games played in South Florida. North Carolina won a tight battle the last time the teams played at Hard Rock Stadium. Mitchell Trubisky outdueled Brad Kaaya as the Tar Heels won 20-13.
