That happened after FSU had a touchdown called back. Using some trickery on a double-pass it was ruled that Francois initial pass went forward thus resulting in two forward passes on the same play. It was five yards and a loss of down, More importantly, the touchdown would have given FSU a 34-21 lead’.

Miami then quickly took the lead. After Perry incompletions on first and second down the Hurricanes faced a third and ten from their own 27. Perry hit Thomas for 32-yards and a first down. He quickly connected with tight end Brevin Jordan down the left side for a 41-yard touchdown to put Miami in front.

It was all defense from there with the offense just enough opportunistic to win the game. The Seminoles final three drives after Miami took the lead all went three and out for a total of negative five yards.

The Miami defense went out and won the game for the offense. It was not a Florida State choke. Florida State fans will look at this game as their team blowing it and the refs taking away the touchdown.

If the Hurricanes had gotten better special teams plays earlier in the game from the punt coverage team and better punting this game easily could have been a Miami blowout. Florida State had 145 yards in punt returns 70 yards rushing, 140 passing and 29 in kick returns. No team can expect to win with those numbers.
