Florida State fans and media throughout social media and elsewhere are complaining about the questionable double pass touchdown that was called back on Saturday in their loss to the Miami Hurricanes.

It was predictable that this would happen. Several Florida State sites are the most biased fan bases I have ever seen. Among the predictions, before the season began were that the Seminoles would finish 10-2 and of course defeat the Miami Hurricanes.

Florida State has started 2018 3-3 and arguably could be 1-5. The 28-27 loss to the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday is the only of their three losses that could have gone the other way. Two of the three Seminoles wins could have and maybe even should have been losses.

One Florida State site went as far as saying that Miami didn’t win the game Florida State lost it because of turnovers and that the blown call would have likely ended a Miami comeback. The questionable call on the double forward pass would have put Florida State up 34-21.

At the time the penalty was called on the double forward pass there was 14:01 remaining in the game. It would have given the Miami Hurricanes plenty of time to rally. They scored two touchdowns in a 42-second span of the third quarter to get within 27-21.

The Hurricanes would not score the go-ahead touchdown until over 11 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Last season Miami had to rally twice against the Seminoles scoring go-ahead touchdowns twice in the last 5:09 in Tallahassee.

To say that the refs cost Florida State the game is beyond biased and short sided. Focusing on Florida State giving that game away and not what the Miami defense has been able to do forcing turnovers is also what some sports talk radio stations call “out of town stupid (that might be a bit harsh but ignorant certainly applies).”
