Miami Hurricanes defeated FSU because of defense not questionable call

Not all Florida State fans or followers blamed the refs. Some realized it’s the limitations of their own team that really cost them the game against Miami.

It’s always easy to blame the referees for a loss. Miami fans can relate as well as anyone. The pass interference call against the Hurricanes in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl is likely the most famous penalty called in the history of college football. The reality in that game was that Miami had plenty of chances to win that game earlier.

Both teams now move forward in the rest of their 2018 seasons. This game will go down as one of the most memorable in the Miami-Florida State rivalry. The Hurricanes comeback was the largest in the 63 games that the Seminoles and Hurricanes have played.

Blaming the outcome of any game on one play is usually short sided. It can happen occasionally. In the case, it had an impact but was far from the deciding factor. If Miami did have to score they had 14 minutes left from the time of that play to do so. The go-ahead touchdown came with just over 11 minutes remaining.

The way both teams were playing the Hurricanes had plenty of time to turn that game around. In the second half, the Hurricanes were the ones moving the football and Florida State had absolutely no offense.
