Saturday’s game is only Virginia’s second on national television this season. The Cavaliers week three victory over Ohio University that was played at Vanderbilt was on ESPN2 liked Miami and UVA will be. Virginia has also played on the Big Ten Network when they played at Indiana.

Saturday is Miami’s fifth straight game on either ABC, ESPN or ESPN2. The Hurricanes opening game against LSU was on ABC as well. The pressure of the big lights and ESPN should be less intimidating for Miami than UVA.

Broadcast Information:

"Television (ESPN2) • Jason Benetti (play-by-play) • Kelly Stouffer (color) • Olivia Dekker (sidelines) Flagship Radio (560 WQAM) • Joe Zagacki (play-by-play) • Don Bailey, Jr. (color) • Josh Darrow (sidelines) Spanish Radio (990 ESPN Deportes) • “Chamby” Campos (play-by-play) • Jose Martinez (color)"

The announcers on ESPN have interesting backgrounds. Bennetti is the Chicago White Sox’s television play-by-play announcer. He gradually replaced the legendary Ken “Hawk” Harrelson. Stouffer played collegiately at Colorado State and in the NFL for four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. He is a North Carolina native.

Virginia also did not win a game after playing Miami in 2017. The loss to the Hurricanes was the second of a four-game losing streak to end Virginia’s season. It concluded with a 49-7 loss to Navy in the Military Bowl played on the Midshipmen’s home-field in Annapolis., Maryland.

The Miltary Bowl was Virginia’s first since 2011. The Cavaliers have been in only two bowl games since 2008. From 1987 through 2007 the Cavaliers had 16 bowl appearances. They missed making a bowl game in only five seasons during that time span.
