Can Miami’s defense and special teams contain Virginia’s Olamide Zaccheaus

Zaccheaus is one of the most explosive players in the ACC if not the entire country. He leads Virginia with 33 receptions for 501 yards and six touchdowns. Zacchaeus is second in the ACC in receiving yards per game,  fourth in receptions per game and tied for first with Miami’s Lawrence Cager in touchdown receptions with six.

The Senior wideout has had at least four receptions in every game this season. Indiana and Louisville were able to basically shut him down. Zacchaeus had five receptions for 15 yards against the Hoosiers and four for 29 against the Cardinals.

In Virginia’s last game against North Carolina State, he burned the Wolfpack for nine receptions for 109 yards and two touchdowns. He also added two carries for 29 yards. Against Miami, last season he had six receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown and five carries for 29 yards

Virginia doesn’t have nearly the depth in their receiving corps that Miami does. They cannot just concentrate on Zacchaeus. He needs to be their main focus but Hasise Dubois who is 6’3 215 pounds has also been productive this season. Dubois has 22 receptions for 215 yards and two touchdowns.

Zacchaeus and Dubois have combined for 55 receptions and eight touchdowns. The remainder of the Cavaliers receiving corps has 34 receptions and two touchdowns. If Miami can control either or both Zacchaeus and Dubois they should be able to win going away.
