Can N’Kosi Perry carry the offense?

Perry has not had to do much since taking over as the first-team quarterback. He was sensational against FIU but the defense carried him and the offense the last two games. Perry was inconsistent and erratic against Florida State. He finished 13 of 32 for 204 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions.

Perry did have one fumble lost, but not throwing any interceptions was important and critical one for anyone playing quarterback under Mark Richt. In the Hurricanes previous game against North Carolina Perry only had to attempt 12 passes as the Canes ran for 229 yards and scored three defensive touchdowns.

Perry showed a glimpse of what he could do in the second half against Florida State by keeping his poise and leading Miami back from a 20 point deficit to defeat the Seminoles.

Richt considered inserting former starter Malik Rosier but likes Perry’s ceiling better. They are going to need more consistency out of the redshirt Sophomore.

Perry needs to rely on his playmakers. Sophomore wide receiver Jeff Thomas is making a strong case for first team all-ACC. Thomas leads the nation averaging 24.8 yards per reception. He has 16 catches for 396 yard and three touchdowns.

Lawrence Cager has become a red zone threat using his 6’5 frame to outjump or out muscle his opponents for six touchdowns. He had two that both came on fourth down last weeks against Florida State.

Sophomore wide receiver Mike Harley and Freshman tight end Brevin Jordan have also emerged as threats for Perry this season. Jordan is second on Miami with 174 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

dark. Next. Did the 2017 Hurricanes put the FSU hangover to rest?

Jordan and Harley are tied for second with 15 receptions. Harley has 173 receiving yards to rank third and is still looking for his first career touchdown.
