Miami Hurricanes quarterback problems are bigger than Perry or Rosier
The Miami Hurricanes fans on social media have made it clear that they want N’Kosi Perry at quarterback. The Canes problems at quarterback are bigger than whoever is under center.
Two recent posts discussed who the Miami Hurricanes starting quarterback should be. State of the U has made it clear that they want Perry under center while Palm Beach Post Miami Beat Writer Tom D’Angelo suggests it should be Rosier.
Perry clearly has more upside and as Hurricanes Head Coach Mark Richt said earlier this season a higher ceiling. The greater potential for Perry is why a change wasn’t made at quarterback in the Florida State game.
The truth is while Rosier has been constantly hammered by the Miami Hurricanes fan base because of his lack of accuracy Perry has also struggled with completion percentage. Both quarterbacks have the potential to make the big play and also be streaky.
Perry completed his first ten passes when he came into the game against Florida International. The Redshirt Freshman finished the game completing seven of his last 15 attempts. Rosier relieved Perry in Saturday’s loss to Virginia. He began four of 12 and finished the game completing eight of his last 11 attempts.

The Miami Hurricanes need more consistency and accuracy from the quarterback position. We have seen that both signal callers can lead their teams to victory. Neither seems to be the kind of quarterback that can carry a team.
Rosier led game-winning drives last season against Florida State and Georgia Tech. A sizeable portion of the Miami Hurricanes fanbase on social media vilified Rosier when UM lost and refused to give him credit when they won. He was an important part of the Hurricanes success last season.
Rosier was also a part of why Miami didn’t pull away in games they eeked out victories last season. He needed to make more plays in those games and in the ones they lost. Perry has also not done enough this season to prove he the elite player many expected him to be.
Both Rosier and Perry have struggled with completion percentage. The Miami Hurricanes are 108th out of 130 teams in completion percentage. Miami has completed 53.9 percent of their passing attempts. What might be even more maddening than the actual percentage is the consistency.
Neither quarterback has enough attempts to qualify in the national rankings in completion percentage. Perry has a 56.2 completion percentage. Rosier is at 52.1 percent. Perry would rank 97th and Rosier out of the top 100.

Rosier and Perry both have their strengths and weaknesses why they should and should not start. Until Mark and (Quarterbacks Coach) Jon Richt and Offensive Coordinator Thomas Brown get the accuracy issues worked out it won’t matter who is under center.
