"“Mark Richt: And while we’re talking about Miami, let’s talk about Richt. The Miami coach is embattled following a 27-14 loss to Boston College on Friday night. Namely, Richt’s critics are spotlighting the quarterback situation with Malik Rosier and N’Kosi Perry, along with the general offensive ineptitude (the Hurricanes averaged four yards per play). Rosier’s ups and downs are well-documented and he had a particularly abysmal night with a couple of interceptions and about 4.2 yards per attempt. But this has been a mismanagement job weeks in the making that is now starting to cost Miami. And it’s starting to tick off some of the program’s biggest alums.”"

CBS Sports is the most reliable and probably most connected of the three sites analyzing what has happened to the Miami Hurricanes over the last two games. They went practically for the jugular with their analysis. Richt’s coaching and handling of the program seem to be the same assessments that he had at when he was at Georgia.

  • Richt went back and forth between Rosier and Perry beginning when Perry relieved Rosier for the third series against FIU. Perry then completed his first ten passes and Miami had a full-fledged quarterback controversy on their hands.

Many schools have quarterback controversies. When you are one of the marquee programs in college football everything is going to be magnified. Miami’s issues are more than just the problems are at quarterback.

Richt not having a quarterback in place and having taken a stranglehold as a school once known as Quarterback U will generate a lot of discussions.

The rest of the season will be intriguing to see if Perry, True Freshman Jarren Williams or potentially (but not likely) Cade Weldon can unseat Rosier and become the favorite heading into next season. With five games remaining the Miami Hurricanes have a lot to clean up heading into 2019.

Richt’s job is secure. He needs to re-evaluate what Miami is doing on offense if the Hurricanes truly hope to consistently be a contender in the ACC Coastal Division, the ACC and the College Football Playoff in 2019 and beyond.
