2) UCLA

UCLA has not had a winning season since 2015. They have only had four winning seasons in the past 13 years. Their football team often lives in the shadow of the Bruins basketball team and their crosstown rival USC.

Hiring former Oregon, Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Chip Kelly last offseason was a huge coup. Kelly has one of the best offensive minds in football and being a College Head Coach seems to fit his system much better.

The Bruins first season under Kelly has been similar to Nebraska. The Bruins are 2-7 and have been eliminated from making a bowl game. The Bruins five-game losing streak to began 2018 was their worst start since 1943. They followed that with victories over Pac-12 South-leading Arizona and over California.

UCLA has since lost 41-10 at Utah and 42-21 in Kelly’s return to Eugene. The Bruins are 119th in scoring. In Kelly’s four seasons with Oregon, the Ducks finished eighth in the country in scoring his first season and then never lower than fourth.

Jim Mora Jr was fired by UCLA with two games remaining in 2017. The Bruins were 8-14 in his final two seasons. UCLA had winning seasons in Mora’s first four years in Westwood. In the five seasons, before Mora arrived, the Bruins had only one winning season.
