N’Kosi Perry is not the Miami Hurricanes savior at quarterback
Perry helped Miami in a huge comeback win over Florida State in the following game. It was once again the defense that led the way. After the Hurricanes fell behind 27-7 in the third quarter the Canes defense setup Perry and the offense in back to back possessions in the red zone.
Perry connected with wide receivers Lawrence Cager and Jeff Thomas to get Miami within six in the third. Miami then took the lead in the fourth quarter behind two impressive throws from Perry to Thomas and tight end Brevin Jordan. The connection with Jordan came from 41 yards out and was the game winner.
Perry’s performance was erratic against the Seminoles. He finished 13-32 for 204 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. The touchdown to interception ratio and poise to be able to bring the Hurricanes back from 20 points down was impressive. His lack of accuracy was disturbing.
Perry’s completion percentage was one of the biggest reasons that Rosier was benched. Perry lasted the first four drives against Virginia before being pulled. Interceptions by the Cavaliers on back to back possessions led to 10 points and an early 10-0 lead.
Rosier relived Perry and led the Hurricanes to 13 points in a 16-13 loss, but the offense still struggled. Richt stayed with Rosier after the bye week throughout the game in a loss to Boston College 13 days later.
