The Miami basketball team made official what’s been known for some time with the signing of four-star combo guard Isaiah Wong and three-star power-forward Anthony Walker to National Letters of Intent.

The inking of Walker and Wong to the Miami basketball program are the Hurricanes first two signees since the Class of 2017. Miami did not sign any True Freshmen for 2018 after the fallout from the Adidas Corruption scandal. Head Coach Jim Larranaga and the Miami Basketball program were eventually exonerated.

The Miami basketball Class for 2019 only presently consists of Walker and Wong. The Hurricanes do not have any commitments beyond Walker and Wong. Expect Miami to add one or two more players to the 2019 Class. The Hurricanes have a few more scholarships to give for the 2019-20 season.

Walker is a 6’8 205-pound power forward. He is the 142nd ranked player in the Class of 2019 and the 26th ranked power forward. Wong is the 74th ranked player overall and the 10th ranked combo guard.

Miami is awaiting the decisions to two highly players in the Class of 2019. The Hurricanes are one of five finalists for 6’10 275 pound center Vernon Carey Jr. from the University School in Fort Lauderdale. Power forward C.J. Walker is 28th ranked player in the nation and seventh best power forward.

Walker named Miami one of his three finalists via Twitter on Wednesday. He will announce his college decision on November 21, the day before Thanksgiving.

The Miami basketball program loses two Seniors after the 2018-19 season. Forward Anthony Lawrence Jr and guard Zach Johnson. Lawrence has played all four seasons with the Hurricanes. Johnson is in his first season in Coral Gables after coming to Miami from Florida Gulf Coast as a Graduate transfer.

Miami will add center Rodney Miller who is redshirting this season and guard Kameron McGusty who is sitting out following his transfer from Oklahoma. The Hurricanes are not likely to lose anyone else.

Both Wong and Walker have the potential to grow into outstanding players for the Miami basketball program. Wong’s NLI was the culmination of two years of hard work for Larranaga and the Miami staff. Larranaga discussed Wong’s potential with HurricaneSports.Com.

"“Isaiah Wong is a young man who we coveted for two years…We believe he has excellent traits for an ACC guard. Isaiah has the ability to play multiple guard positions, he can attack the basket and score in a variety of ways, he has speed and also possesses tremendous athleticism and leadership abilities. He comes from an extremely well-coached program and a great family. I am excited to have him join our program here at Miami.”"
