After two straight losses to teams from New Jersey, the Miami basketball team hopes to get back on the right track against Yale on Saturday evening at American Airlines Arena.

Saturday will be the first of two consecutive games by the Miami basketball team against Ivy League teams. The Hurricanes travel to Philadelphia to take on Penn at one of College Basketball’s most iconic venues, the Palestra.

The game against the Quakers on Monday night will be the Miami basketball team’s fourth in a row and fifth in the last six against teams from the northeast. The Hurricanes defeated LaSalle who is also from Philadelphia and lost to Seton Hall at the Wooden Legacy last weekend in Fullerton, California.

The Hurricanes returned home and fell to Rutgers 57-54 in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge on Wednesday night. Miami’s abysmal shooting cost them the game.

The Hurricanes shot 33 percent from the floor and made just seven of their 28 three-point attempts. Miami could live by the old adage, live by the three, die by the three, this season.

Yale has split their first four games this season. The Bulldogs bookended wins over California and Bryant with losses to Memphis and Vermont. Yale’s 76-59 victory over the Golden Bears in China was impressive even if Cal is a bottom of the PAC-12 team. Yale is no pushover. The Bulldogs have had five straight winning seasons.

Yale has had a lot of stability in their basketball program. Head Coach James Jones is in his 20th season and the Bulldogs have had only two coaches in the last 32 years. Yale is an exceptional offensive team and an excellent shooting team. They are in the top 20 in three significant categories shooting the basketball.
