Miami Southridge cornerback Tyrique Stevenson is one of the most sought-after players in the Class of 2019. Like Haselwood, his finalists where he will attend college are Miami and Georgia. Also like Haselwood, he will announce where he will attend college in January. Stevenson is playing in the Under Armour All-America game.

Stevenson is rated as the nation’s 38th best player, fourth-best cornerback and sixth best player in Florida for 2019. It’s not known if Stevenson will decide during the early signing period and send in his NLI and announce in January or wait to do both until next month.

Most of the Hurricanes 2018 recruiting class enrolled early. Despite only 14 current commits to Miami, several of those players are expected to sign during the early signing period this week.

Some of these signees will enroll in January while the others will wait until Spring High School graduation. A confirmed list of the players that will sign this week is below. The players with an asterisk next to their name are expected to enroll in January.

  • *Jahfari Harvey WDE, Vero Beach (Vero Beach, FL), 6-4 /222, 247 Rankings 220 14 33
  • Samuel Brooks OLB, Miami Northwestern High School 6-1.5 / 195, 725 USA 45 LB, 97 Fla.
  • *Jeremiah Payton WR, Duncan U. Fletcher (Neptune Beach, FL), 6-0.5 /186, 69, 11, 9
  • Keontra Smith  Safety, Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, FL) 5-11 / 205,185, 15, 26
  • Avery Huff OLB, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, FL), 6-3 / 200, 222 13 34
  • Jason Munoz, St. Thomas Aquinas, SDE, 6-3.5 / 276, 819, 60, 106
  • Zion Nelson OT, Sumter (Sumter, SC), 6-5 / 240, NA, 191, 39

The players on the list above are the ones who Canes Warning could confirm would sign between Wednesday and Friday. The number of early signees will almost definitely be higher than seven. No matter what happens during the early signing period it’s far too early to panic with where Miami will be ranked nationally.

Several high profile players that the Miami football program is still working on will not decide or make their college football choice known until at least next month or in February. That includes Haselwood who the Hurricanes are the favorite to sign and Cardinal Gibbons defensive end Khris Bogle who will announce January 5.
