Senior safety D’Cota Dixon has been a stud all year, but he has been surrounded by young players on the back end who are still learning how to play at this level, and this has been reflected in the group’s overall performance this season.

Nonetheless, I have been encouraged with how the young corners and safeties have improved as the season’s progressed. The last thing to keep in mind is that the defense has had to shoulder way more than its fair share of the burden, given how anemic Wisconsin’s offense has been.

It’s difficult to be productive when you are constantly being forced back onto the field due to a constant string of three and outs on offense.

Hornibrook has been brutal and inconsistent…and has regressed. (CW Edit: Hornibrook will not play in the Pinstripe Bowl)
Wisconsin’s quarterback play has been abysmal this season, and that conversation begins with Alex Hornibrook. It should be noted, Hornibrook will not play in the Pinstripe Bowl due to a recurrence of symptoms from the head injury he suffered earlier in the season. Sophomore Jack Coan will be starting in his place.

After Hornibrook’s MVP performance against the Hurricanes last season in the Orange Bowl, expectations were sky high for him this season. Unfortunately, that expected progression did not materialize and indeed, he absolutely regressed.
