He (Hornibrook) continues to struggle with his accuracy, and before going down with his injury, was plagued by interceptions all season long. At this point, it is clear that considering Hornibrook’s inaccuracy and weak arm, he is probably not going to evolve into an above average signal caller.

In fact, given the scary nature of head injuries, it’s fair to wonder if we will even see him get back to being an average one.

Wisconsin’s Offensive play calling has been brutal. (CW Edit: Something the Badgers Pinstripe Bowl opposing fan base can relate to.)
You hit the nail right on the head with this one. Aside from Jonathan Taylor (who has essentially been Wisconsin’s entire offense this year), the Badgers’ offensive production has been horrible, and the blame for that largely goes to Paul Chryst and his offensive staff.

Simply put, Wisconsin has had no passing game to speak of. While Hornibrook and Jack Coan deserve some of the blame for this, Chryst has not exactly put them in the best situations. The play calling has been way too conservative and predictable, which has made the job of stopping it so much easier for opposing defenses.

You can pretty much always expect runs on first and second downs from Taylor, with the coaching staff gambling on the Doak Walker Award winner’s chances of picking up first downs on his own. Opponents know this and stack the box against him, often succeeding in stifling him on at least one of those downs.
