How Taylor has managed to put together the season he did in light of this is a testament to his talent. Then, the Badgers are often placed in difficult third and longs that are obvious passing situations.
These kind of downs are difficult for any quarterback to overcome, and as you would expect, Hornibrook and Coan struggled immensely to convert these plays. It became clear pretty quickly that the offense desperately needed Chryst to mix it up a bit on those early downs, which he pretty much refused to do for the most part.
To me, this is indicative of a lack of faith in his quarterbacks. Nonetheless, he did not call plays such as bootlegs, quick passes, etc. that could produce easy throws to help get those guys in rhythm at all. In the end, you have to put most of the blame for Wisconsin’s offensive woes on the head man.
They have the most talented offensive line in the country and have somehow been average at best. (Canes Warning additional edit: this should play well into Miami’s strength up front defensively in the Pinstripe Bowl).
Wisconsin probably has four, maybe even five future NFL linemen on the starting line, and probably even more that are currently reserves but will get their shots in the future.
