I’m honestly not sure what the explanation has been for this. As mentioned, there is no group with more pure collective talent in the nation. Perhaps all of the preseason expectations just proved to be too much pressure for this group, and that was reflected in their play.

Jonathan Taylor is still a very dangerous RB, but the lack of a consistent passing game has made it difficult for him. Taylor is special and if he has a massive Pinstripe Bowl game then maybe it’s not a blowout (in the Hurricanes favor).

Jonathan Taylor is the best running back in college football, and he was recognized as such as the recipient of the Doak Walker Award. He has been one of the few bright spots for the Wisconsin offense, and the team as a whole, this season.

After a historic freshman season, it was always going to be tough for him to meet the high bar he set for himself. Somehow, despite a nonexistent passing game and some struggles by his offensive line, Taylor has managed to find a way to meet those huge expectations that were set on him and put together another special season.

His numbers were Heisman Trophy-worthy: if Wisconsin would have enjoyed the kind of team success that was expected of them this season, I truly believe Taylor could have won that honor. Miami definitely has a stout defense, but the Hurricanes are going to have their hands full trying to limit Taylor’s production in the Pinstripe Bowl.
